Bethany College awarded many of its exemplary students with a variety of college-wide and departmental awards on April 16 during its annual Honors Day celebration. The recipients, selected based on their demonstration of outstanding scholarship and other contributions to the College, were presented with awards during the Honors Day Convocation held in Commencement Hall in Bethany’s historic Old Main.
Bethany College President Scott D. Miller presented one faculty member and one staff member with the President’s Awards for Excellence in Performance during the College’s Honors Day Convocation April 16. The awards, which are given to those who go “beyond the ordinary in their everyday positions,” were given to Sherri Theaker, Associate Professor of Education and Chair of the Department of Education, and Jay Eisenhauer, Supervisor of Housekeeping, Miller announced.
Bethany College will present a series of awards recognizing outstanding alumni at the Alumni Awards Dinner on Saturday, May 2, in Commencement Hall. Sven de Jong will be recognized as Alumnus of the Year, and Dr. Elizabeth Flanagan, Doug Miller and Rev. Dr. Robert Perry will be presented with special honors as a part of Alumni Weekend activities on campus.
Attendees of Bethany College Theatre’s performance “Arcana” will have a unique experience to be involved in the show. The series of short plays and monologues are each inspired by a tarot card, and the audience will be given a deck of the cards to decide the order of the performances.
The annual Bethany College Senior Art Show is now open in the College’s Renner Art Gallery. The exhibit, which features the work of Kelsey Bish of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Harrison Rightmyer, of Reading, Pennsylvania, will be available until April 18.
